How to buy a Puppy?

By Puneet Bangera

If you are reading this article you must have already made a decision to get a puppy home. There are few things that you need to consider before buying a puppy. I would put it under 3 stages.
a) decision making
b) Breed selection
c) Getting the puppy home

Getting a pet home is different from buying anything else for your home. It’s like getting home a new family member. Carefully consider all the points before you even think of getting a pet home. How much time would you be able to give it?  How much can you keep aside as your monthly pet budget? Are all the family members comfortable with the idea? Are you ready to clean the house when your puppy answers the nature’s call inside the house?

Too many questions, right? You thought buying a puppy was easy and this is just the beginning. Once you have satisfactory answers for all these questions you have more questions to answer. Yes, now you need to decide on what breed to buy.
There are so many breeds to suit different needs that it is advisable to check on which one would be suitable to you. The first question you might ask yourself is; what is the amount of money that you would like to spend on a puppy. This would help the selection of breed. The other thing that you need to consider is the objective of getting a pet home; is it as a companion or for security or for your children. The size of your home is something you can consider before buying a puppy. You can go in for a small or toy breed in case you have limited space.

Once you have decided on the breed now the final step is to make sure that you buy the puppy from a reliable place. Buying a pet from someone you know is the ideal scenario, but that is not always possible. The best way to verify information is to only buy pets with genuine registrations papers. The papers would also include the linage of the pet. This might cost you a bit more but believe me its worth it.
